COMING SOON: The TV Humboldt Video Platform

North Coast Earth First! is upgrading their online video footprint using the very first generation of the TV Humboldt video platform, currently in development. As you'll soon discover, the channel player we built them, seen below, is even better than TV Humboldt's own online TV channel, and WAY better than YouTube's custom players! With it's formidable sharing features, the player enables NCEF! to easily recruit their supporters to do the work of virally spreading their message far and wide across cyberspace, in startlingly crisp, high-resolution video. If you'd like our help delivering your message or artistic vision with players like this, we might be able to help you out with that, too (more info on that below, after the player).

Depending on your connection speed, the player may need several moments to begin playing (but we're working on that). To browse videos in the channel, click the forward and backward buttons you now see in the lower middle of the player, or try the "2D" view. You can also access these browsing options while a video is playing by clicking the button that looks like a TV.
Be sure to try it in full-screen, by clicking the button with the two arrows (once a video's playing).

This service is in development, and is planned to be integrated with a unique, powerful, and downright revolutionary new service in 2009 that we believe will finally allow media-makers to make money with their videos, without having to "sell out" to corporate middlemen. TV HUMBOLDT AND POLITICS:

TV Humboldt is mainly an entertainment channel, but we do mix a few politically-oriented videos into our programming here and there.

But don't even bother trying to figure out which way we "lean" politically! We play stuff from all over the political spectrum.

TV Humboldt seeks to be a model for what a fair mediascape of the future could look like, where everyone, regardless of their politics, can have a shot at being heard if they have something to say and say it well (within reason, the law, and common decency, of course).

That's because we don't operate on a political agenda, but on a philosophy of media. That philosophy judges how secure our free speech rights are by how diverse the opinions expressed in the media are, and how willing the people are to listen to differing opinions. If we're unwilling to "compare notes" with each other, or to look at things from different perspectives, our vision will be two-dimensional at best, and our society will be evermore bitter, divided, and dysfunctional.

So please be patient, if not open-minded, when you hear an opinion on the channel that you disagree with. If you really feel that opinion needs to be challenged, please, by all means, submit your own Op Ed video to us! We believe deeply in diversity of speech, so we don't just play stuff we agree with!

But again, we're primarily here to entertain and amuse, so we're generally going to keep the political videos to a minimum, and try not to play too many really "heavy" or lengthy ones (unless they're also entertaining or otherwise of general interest to a wide Humboldt audience).
